Haris Pamboukis was resigned arguing that a separate ministry is needed ELNAVI confirmed for re-setting an autonomous Ministry of Mercantile Marine

The sudden and unexpended resignation of Haris Pamboukis, deputy minister of Development Competitiveness and Shipping, shows the need of an autonomous Ministry of Mercantile Marine, as ELNAVI wrote in the last issue of July 2011.
In his letter to the Prime Minister Mr. Pamboukis argued that Coast Guard Authorities must be attached back to an autonomous Ministry of Mercantile Marine.

This development also shows that the abolishment of the Ministry of Mercantile Marine was totally a mistake and more over the transition of Coast Guard to the Citizen’s Protection ministry failed. Fortunately the climate has changed and all the political parties are positive to shipping community’s views and therefore we believe that the re-start of an autonomous Ministry of Mercantile Marine is a matter of time of very few months.

The benefits are more than obvious, such as the improvement of Marine Education, enforcement of the Greek flag and attracting more business on the mercantile sector.
