The Hellenic Committee of Lloyd’s Brokers’ Associates in cooperation with Tradewinds organised in Greece the first Hellenic Marine Risk Forum in order to shed light on the latest Marine Insurance developments.

Mr. Manos Lorentzos, Chairman of the Hellenic Committee of Lloyd’s Brokers’ Associates advised that the members of the Committee place roughly a 20% share of total premium generated by the Greek shipping market which is a very important figure, considering that the Greek shipping market is the largest in the world and a market where all international brokers compete for business.

Ole Wikborg, Director, Norwegian Hull Club & President of IUMI, referred to the Global Marine Premium which is $34bn. Liability Marine accounts for 5.7%, Global Hull 14.5% and Transport Energy 54%, etc.  As he said 2012 had a strong total loss impact on underwriting. The market is characterized by overcapacity, unstable frame conditions and major claims.
