Greek shipping actively participates in the duty of contributing to the country’s tax income

The Greek government after discussion with the Union of Greek Shipowners decided to impose taxes on Greek controlled-ships trading under a foreign flag, Shipping & Aegean Minister, Kostis Mousouroulis confirmed that Greece-based operators are mandated to pay tonnage tax on foreign-flag ships for the first time.

Union of Greek Shipowners has helped the government to shape a package to support the industry’s contribution to Greece’s taxation income. For the payment of this tax are liable the foreign shipping companies with ships under foreign flags, which are under the management of domestic or foreign companies, located in Greece.
