Greek Shipping retains its world leading position

Exploiting the market opportunities Greek shipping has retained its leading position in the global maritime scene. For the 26th consecutive year the GSCC
presented statistical data, in the form of 11 tables, attached hereto, on Greek controlled ships over 1,000 GT, registered under the Greek and other flags. The data has been provided by Lloyd’s Register – Fairplay.

Information shows that, during the year in question, the Greek controlled fleet has decreased in terms of ship numbers but has increased in terms of DW and GT. According to the data, as of 21.3.2013, Greek interests controlled 3,677 vessels of various categories, of 264,054,167 total DWT and 155,904,976 total GT. Compared with the previous year’s data, this represents a decrease of 86 vessels, but an increase of 1,282,353 DWT and 83,408,057 GT. Total DWT is the highest ever. The figures include 282 vessels, of various categories, of 18,394,358 GT, on order from shipyards.
