Matter of Urgency : Seafarers repatriations and crew changes

Searock Marine Insurance Brokers, a dynamic brokerage house in Athens, Greece for specialized marine risks, announced that it has become a signatory of the “Neptune Declaration on Seafarer Wellbeing and Crew Change”, a worldwide call to action to end the unprecedented crew change crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Neptune Declaration, which has been signed by more than 700 companies and organizations across the maritime value chain, defines four main actions to facilitate crew changes:

• Recognize seafarers as key workers and give them priority access to Covid-19 vaccines.

• Establish and implement gold standard health protocols based on existing best practices.

• Increase collaboration between ship operators and charterers to facilitate crew changes.

• Ensure air connectivity between key maritime hubs for seafarers.

As active members of the Shipping community, it is our shared responsibility to raise our voice and join forces to facilitate seafarer repatriations and crew changes as a matter of urgency. Neptune Declaration is a huge step forward for seafarers and the maritime community, and in line with our company’s values. Searock Marine Insurance Brokers is proud to be a signatory and join more than 700 companies and organizations in putting an end to this humanitarian crisis.”, said Maria Mavroudi, Founding Partner of Searock.
